Kriya™ massage facilitates seeing and feeling the energy patterns of movement. There is a magical feeling that goes along with it. People receiving a massage feel it, but are not consciously aware of the possible effect. Kriya™ stimulates change by disrupting old holding patterns of consciousness in preparation for realignment to a polarized state. The affect on the client is a progressive buildup of energy as the practitioner continues. The use of the Kriya™ dance creates a feeling of having received multiple massages. Kriya™ uses energy patterns that are spirals, figure eights and circles. The result is a continuous motion with no beginning and no end. When this type of massage is integrated with other styles, the affect is intensified and may continue for many days. Kriya™ can be a separate massage or an adjunct to any other style.
Swedish Massage
A very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fiber's of the muscles, tendons and fascia.Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
Tui na Massagge
What is therapeutic massage (tui na)?
The term tui na (pronounced "twee naw"), which literally means "pinch and pull," refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage and body work.
Tui na is not generally used for pleasure and relaxation, but rather as a treatment to address specific patterns of disharmony. As such, practitioners use it for many of the same reasons and according to the same principles as acupuncture. Like acupuncture, TCM uses tui na to harmonize yin and yang in the body by manipulating the Qi in the acupuncture channels.
Tui na includes what is popularly known as "acupressure," where practitioners use finger pressure instead of needles to stimulate the acupuncture points.
When is tui na used?
Tui na is one of the most popular TCM treatment modalities and is frequently used in the treatment of superficial trauma and injury and a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems. Tui na is also often used when acupuncture is inappropriate, such as with children, when it is referred to as "Chinese pediatric massage therapy."
TCM practitioners will frequently encourage and instruct patients to do self massage and certain exercises at home. This solidifies and expands the benefits created during treatment sessions.
Self massage and stretching are considered important aspects of self healthcare.
This massage is generally done fully clothed.
Why get a Deep Tissue Massage?
It feels good and it is beneficial to your health. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage releases toxins from muscles and gets blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it's important to drink plenty of water after any massage to help eliminatetoxins from the body.
It's important to be realistic about what one massage can achieve. Many people ask for more pressure, thinking that if the therapist just pushes hard enough, they can get rid of all their knots in an hour. This just won'thappen. In fact, undoing chronic knots and tension built up over a lifetime is best achieved with an integrated program that includes exercise, work on your posture and ways of moving, relaxation techniques and a regular program of massage.
Sports Massage
A type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.
Knead for speed:
Study shows key role of massage — Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps got a massage twice a day in Beijing. His teammate, Dara Torres, had two massage therapists on stand-by.And a bunch of sedated rabbits in Ohio recently had massage performed on their legs after bouts of intense exercise.
Phelps, 23, made history by winning eight gold medals. Torres, 41, became the oldest swimmer to compete in an Olympic event and win a silver medal.
As for the rabbits? They might have proved scientifically what athletes and trainers have long believed: Massage really does help with muscle recovery.
Reflexology
A type of bodywork that generally focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. It also applies to the hands and ears as well. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
CranioSacral Therapy
A bodywork method that focuses on gently stimulating your CranioSacral system (membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord) to heal the body by improving the functioning of the central nervous system.CST effectively complements your body’s natural healing process, and has been known to help alleviate a wide variety of problems including:
· Central Nervous System Disorders
· Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
· TMJ
· Fibromyalgia

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage TM
Founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an external non invasive manipulation that releases myofascial adhesion and helps repositions internal organs that have shifted. Adhesions and mispositioning restricts the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi. Based on over thirty years of training and experience in massage, naprapathy, herbology, and spiritual healing, Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed these techniques which now bear her name. This modality incorporates a holistic approach to wellness which includes massage, anatomy and physiology, herbology, nutrition, and emotional and spiritual healing. Dr. Arvigo believes that with any natural healing technique, these areas must be simultaneously addressed to promote optimal wellness. Dr. Arvigo learned these techniques from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the great Maya Shaman of Belize, Central America with whom she apprenticed for ten years. Don Elijio believed that a woman's center is her uterus. "If a woman's uterus is out of balance, so is she," he would say. Midwives and healers of Central America agree that most female troubles are caused by the wandering womb. Don Elijio passed away in 1996 at the age of 103. Rosita also studied with Hortence Robinson, a 73 year old herbal midwife of Belize who has been delivering babies since she was 13.
This technique addresses position and wellness of the pelvic and abdominal organs. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for the prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common disorders.
How does it work for women?
This external massage gently lifts and guides the uterus into its optimal position in the lower pelvis. The uterus is held in position by over 10 ligaments. Ligaments, when stressed or strained cause the uterus to become mal-positioned. If the uterus is mal-positioned, women experience a multitude of ailments.
What could cause a displaced uterus?
- High Impact exercise, running on cement surfaces, high impact aerobics, etc
- Injury to the sacrum or tailbone from a fall, car accidents, etc.
- Pelvic ligaments that have weakened due to overstretching during pregnancy and birth
- Lifting & carrying heavy objects before or during menstruation and too soon after childbirth
- Time and gravity
- Past surgeries
- Weak pelvic floor muscles
- Chronic muscle spasm around the low back and sacrum
- Emotional armoring from abuse at anytime in life
What are the symptoms of a displaced uterus?
- Painful or irregular periods; painful or irregular ovulation
- Dark or brown blood at the onset and at the end of menstruation
- Headache or migraine with period
- Varicose veins of the legs and/or tired, weak or numb legs
- Low backache; back pain with period
- More serious imbalances including: Endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids and Uterine Polyps
- PMS/ depression
- Frequent urination; bladder infections, incontinence
- Recurrent vaginal infections
- Chronic miscarriages
- Difficulty getting pregnant/Infertility
- Painful intercourse
- Chronic constipation
- Difficult menopause
How quickly should I expect a change?
Depending on the severity of the problem, it may take as little as one session and as long as many months for the uterine position to be corrected and for the ligaments to gain enough strength and elasticity for it to stay in place. 3 sessions are usually the minimum. Women often report a rapid improvement in symptoms and sense of well-being when self-care is performed regularly.
Is uterine massage recommended for all women?
Almost every woman, even those who have had hysterectomies can benefit greatly from uterine massage through improved circulation, lymphatic drainage, and a decrease in the formation of scar tissue.
Uterine massage is not performed: 1) during menstrual bleeding; 2) within the first 6 weeks following a normal vaginal delivery or the first 3 months after a c-section; 3) for a woman using an IUD for birth control; 4) if cancer is present or suspected anywhere in the pelvis, or the client is undergoing chemotherapy for this condition; 5) during the first trimester of pregnancy; or 6) hiatal hernia - gentle touch only.
How is this massage helpful for men?
The massage is done the same way for men. The prostate is a glandular organ that rests behind the bladder it has no ligaments to speak of for support. The prostate gland can become congested resulting in early stages of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH), impotence (depending on the cause), decrease sperm count, etc. By applying the massage to the abdomen it supports healthy organ function and relieves congestion.
Does uterine massage support fertility?
It has been estimated that approx 30 % of woman who have been unsuccessful in conceiving eventually conceive after a succession of MAM treatments. Treatments generally consist of massage, diet and lifestyle modifications, herbal therapies to enhance fertility.
Once the uterus is in its optimal position, there is improved hemo dynamics and homeostasis to support and enhance fertility. When including the partner in the process, we find fertility is increased! After all, men need this work as much as women do.
I've had a hysterectomy - how does uterine massage help?
Women who have had hysterectomies benefit greatly as well. The technique improves circulation in and around the area of the scar and allows for proper flow of the lymph, which often becomes blocked after surgery, resulting in swelling, burning and deep aching pains in the pelvis. By using uterine massage techniques on a regular basis, scar tissue will be prevented from forming in the pelvis after surgery. Ligaments and other remaining organs are benefited from improving circulatory flow to the pelvis.
How does arvigo abdominal massage help with digestion?
Many anxieties and emotions through life are stored in our body's tissues and organs. A very common place is in the organs of the digestive system. Those so called "butterflies in your stomach" can lead to constipation, indigestion, heartburn, gastritis, and eventually to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gasto Esophageal Reflux (GERD), Crohn's and more.
Stresses and emotions cause the small intestine and colon to be "twisted or kinked" leading the blockages in the flow of peristalsis. Surrounding fascia creates adhesions that mal-position organs and impede proper blood flow and enzyme secretions. Maya Abdominal Massage helps to break down facial adhesions, scar tissue and removes any "kinks" in the digestive tract. Often there is a dramatic improvement after just one session when combined with proper diet and self-care.
What is "self-care" and why does it help?
Each client is instructed in performing the abdominal massage for themselves. By doing self care massage daily for 2 - 3 minutes of daily massage, it provides the individual with the ability to improve their symptoms while working with their practitioner.

Massaging the breasts helps make the breasts firmer, healthier and aids in maintaining the balance of hormones in a woman’s body.
The female breasts are made up of fatty tissue, milk producing glands and lymphatic ducts and nodes which benefit greatly from being massaged.
The confinement of the breasts, for example, from tight clothing, causes a stagnation of fluids within the breasts which provides the opportunity for lumps, tumors, cysts and cancer to develop. New research suggest that regular breast massage helps to maintain health and prevent lumps, tumors, cysts and cancer.
Massaging the breasts also assists in recovery from surgery.
Women who have undergone breast surgery often experience pain, tightness, swelling, edema and, in the case of mastectomy, feelings of grief and loss. The ways massage therapy aids breast-cancer patients are varied, and includes relaxation, pain relief, emotional support, reduction of both swelling and tightness, softening of scar tissue, and alleviation of edema. Massage can also help "reconnect" mastectomy patients to their own bodies.
Massage is a powerful tool assisting in a persons overall health, healing and recovery process. Breast massage as a normal part of any massage treament greatly enhances the overall benifits of the massage and ones health.

Massage Benefits Women with Breast Cancer
Research was conducted by the Touch Research Institutes, Department of Pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology Clinics, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Department of Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine."Breast cancer patients improved immune functions following massage therapy." Massage therapy reduced depression, anxiety and anger in women with breast cancer, and increased their levels of dopamine, serotonin, natural killer cells and lymphocytes, according to recent research. Results of the urine tests showed that serotonin and dopamine levels for the massage group increased, and the blood tests showed that there was a significant increase in their natural killer (NK) cell numbers and lymphocytes.Natural killer cells (also known as NK cells, K cells, and killer cells) are a type of lymphocyte (a white blood cell) and a component of the immune system. "NK cells spontaneously destroy a wide variety of cancer and virus-infected cells and are involved in eliminating metastases."
Although rare, men are also subject to breast cancer.

HEALING THE LIGHT BODY
This healing modality is based on a holistic view of health and well being as practiced by shamanic healers around the globe. A person’s health is assessed through tracking the alignment of body, mind and spirit. This balance is essential for internal as well as external health.
Rather than focusing on a cure as in western medical traditions, shamans relate to the whole person and track the origins of the symptom to its source. Illness is believed to have an energetic origin based in a traumatic event that the person has experienced. This event can be recent or long ago and beyond immediate recall. The trauma leaves an energetic imprint that if left unattended and unhealed, can develop into a chronic emotional, mental or physical condition. Therefore the shaman tracks for and addresses the origins of this trauma at the energetic level, thereby removing the imprint and its influence on our health and well being.
Who Could Benefit from a Light Body Energy Session

MY APPROACH
Primary Food†
It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
Bio-IINdividuality*
The concept of Bio-IINndividuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.
Crowding Out††
Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you along the way.
